Lies people tell their dentist.

Gum disease is a silent, aggressive disease that can damage your gums and take your teeth. The most common lies people tell their dental professionals are:

1. I brush my teeth every morning and every night.
2. I floss at least twice a day.
3. Of course, I took all of my antibiotics.

Don't bother lying. Your dental hygienist will know if you're not brushing and flossing or taking prescribed antibiotics. You will be poked, prodded, and measured during every visit.

More importantly, don't lie to yourself and risk gum disease and tooth loss.

Keep smiling.

Very interesting short topic. Yes, there are people lie to their dentists about taking care of their teeth, but the evidence is there already. The patient has damaged teeth and poor oral health. But on the other hand, there are some cases that we can't control over the condition of our teeth. Like suffering from a health condition such as ulcer, their mouth is acidic, thus damaging their teeth quickly than others.

Dentist Newport BeachThis is funny and also true that a lot of people lie to their dentist. People should me more careful and should start practicing proper oral hygiene. You cannot fool dental professionals because they will know instantly if you do brush and floss and visit the dentist regularly.

Of course dentists never lie to get you to fork over more money. :)

Hmm... that tooth could possibly stand to be worked on. Why not, let's drill! $$$

Thank you for your interesting and humorous comments. The morals of this story are, "It isn't always your fault." and "Don't Lie."

Poor oral health and gum disease is a serious matter because it is also linked with heart disease, not to mention tooth loss. It is true that there is no point lying to the dentist. The dentist can tell if you've been maintaining your dental hygiene just by looking in your mouth.

I get a lot of kids lying about how often they brush their teeth, but adults on the hand, should no better not to lie to the dentist.
