October is National Dental Hygiene Month.

If you haven’t been to the dentist this year, now is the time to begin your oral health regime. Regular check-ups will identify periodontal disease (gum disease) and help you save your teeth and half of your bank account.

Gum disease (periodontal disease) is silent and painless when it begins and affects 75% of the population. That’s 3 out of every 4 people. Are you one of them?

What I know for sure is that it’s all connected.

The major reason people have gum disease is that they hate flossing because it is such a hassle, they know the should but it is a pain. It is like a lot of things in life that we should to make us healthier, but they are a pain, like excercising. I use to be this way until I found DenTek floss picks. They take the hassle out flossing and I started using them about 5 years ago and my hygienist can see a difference. Check them out at dentek.com.

Yes by the age 35 -90% of people affected by gum disease of some type, it can be silent without any visible symphtoms, so regular check ups are very important
